Dearborn, MI – In front of a loud and enthusiastic crowd, the Fordson Tractors and the Dearborn Pioneers put on a volleyball battle to remember Thursday night. After more than two hours of back-and-forth action, Fordson emerged victorious, defeating their crosstown rival Dearborn in a thrilling five-set match. From the opening serve, the intensity was evident. Dearborn jumped out strong, taking the first set with sharp serving and aggressive net play. But Fordson responded in the second, settling into their rhythm behind consistent defense and timely kills to even the match at one set apiece. The pivotal third set swung Fordson’s way after a late rally. Trailing 21-19, the Tractors rattled off six of the final seven points, capped by a powerful block at the net that ignited the Fordson faithful. Not to be outdone, Dearborn stormed back in the fourth set, feeding off their home crowd to force a decisive fifth. The final set was a showcase of grit and determination. Every point was met with roars from the packed gym, with both sides trading leads deep into the frame. Ultimately, Fordson’s composure at the service line and clutch play at the net proved the difference, as they closed out the match 15-13 to secure the rivalry win. “This was a total team effort,” Fordson’s coach said afterward. “We showed toughness, stayed together, and found a way to finish in a tough environment. I’m so proud of our players.” The victory marks a statement win for Fordson, who continue to build momentum as the season heads deeper into conference play. For Dearborn, the loss was a hard-fought setback, but both teams showed the rivalry remains one of the city’s most exciting.
